Cillians Charm

Deva Racing is delighted to present shares for sale in the exciting Cillians Charm! A recent recruit from Ireland, the six-year-old Sageburg gelding is based with Grand National-winning trainer Dr Richard Newland in Worcestershire and looks an outstanding prospect for the 2023/24 NH season and beyond. A strong and well-made individual, Cillians Charm is a near-relation of the Grade 1 Drinmore Novice Chase winner Promalee and the dual Grade 3 winning chaser Michael Mor.

Form

Cillian’s Charm has been pitched in against some very good horses in his racing career thus far, starting off over rules in a bumper whereby he came 2nd to Cheltenham Festival winning mare ‘You Wear It Well’. On his 1st run over hurdles he showed smart form in finishing 2nd to the Emmet Mullins trained ‘Halibut’ who went off favourite in the contest after finishing a 6 length 3rd behind the Supreme Novice Hurdle winner ‘Marine Nationale’. Cillian’s Charm has shown a tendency to race freely in his races but he managed to put his best foot forward on his 4th start over the smaller obstacles when encountering heavy ground at Clonmel over 2m, jumping his rivals into submission in extremely holding ground to win by over 6 lengths. A further two runs yielded below par runs for former trainer Anthony McCann. Nevertheless, this six-year-old son of Sageburg retains plenty of potential over two miles in testing conditions and he looks every bit a chaser. He’s definitely one the keep on side off a lenient looking mark of 113.
