Shares are available in an exciting yearling colt by Calyx, who will be based

with Classic-winning trainer Hugo Palmer at Michael’s exquisitely provisioned Manor House Stables in Cheshire. The yearling colt up for syndication is an April-born son of the Bahamian Bounty mare Herridge, who won over 7f on the all-weather for Richard Hannon as a two-year-old. She has since produced two winners from three runners, headed by the five-time scorer Freak Out. Herridge is a half-sister to the Listed-placed Medieval, while the Group.3 Princess Elizabeth Stakes winner Epsom Icon is another close-up member of a family that dates back to several high-class Cheveley Park-bred horses such as Red Camellia and Red Bloom.

The covering sire Calyx got the pulse racing during a brilliant four-race career that was cut short by injury and is now one of the most sought-after young stallions in service.

He won a maiden on the Newmarket July course by five lengths on debut, before taking the Group.2 Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot, with future multiple Group 1-winning sprinter Advertise trailing in his wake. That proved to be his final run at two, though he returned the following year to win a 6f Group 3 at Ascot and then finish second in the Group 2 Sandy Lane Stakes at Haydock. By the influential Kingman and out of the Group.3 Prix d’Aumale heroine Helleborine, whose full-sister African Rose won the Group.1 Sprint Cup, Calyx was purchased by Coolmore and retired to covering duties ahead of the 2020 breeding season.

He has made an excellent impression with his first crop runners this year, posting around a dozen individual winners at the time of writing. That number includes the Group 2 Duchess Of Cambridge Stakes heroine Persian Dreamer, the Group 2 Norfolk Stakes runner-up Malc, and the Group 2-placed Classic Flower.
