The three-year-old Too Darn Hot filly Nad Alshiba Rain is an exciting addition to our ranks for the 2025 season. She is trained by James Owen in Newmarket.
Bred by Rabbah Bloodstock Limited, she had four starts for previous connections and was competitive on each occasion. She produced two excellent efforts in maiden/novice company last summer, notably finishing sixth behind the Group-class fillies Mandurah and Miss Fascinator at Newmarket in June.
She joined us on a mark of 67 and finished an encouraging third in a 6f Wolverhampton novice on her stable debut, making encouraging late progress to be beaten just a length at the line. Both her racing record and pedigree profile suggest she is extremely well handicapped.
Nad Alshiba Rain is out of the Invincible Spirit mare Wondering Spirit, a placed half-sister to the Gr.1 Hong Kong Cup winner and sire Akeed Mofeed and the UAE Gr.3 winner Jordan Sport. The extended family includes many more high-class performers, including the Gr.1 Prix du Jockey Club winner and influential sire Hernando.
The covering sire Too Darn Hot was the best juvenile produced by Dubawi, earning European Champion Two-Year-Old honours after winning the Gr.3 Solario Stakes, Gr.2 Champagne Stakes and Gr.1 Dewhurst Stakes. He trained on to win the Gr.1 Prix Jean Prat and Gr.1 Sussex Stakes as a three-year-old and has continued to excel since retiring to stallion duties.
His first crop included the Gr.1 Irish 1,000 Guineas winner Fallen Angel and his second batch of two-year-olds featured the Gr.1 Futurity Trophy Stakes winner Hotazhell. He has confirmed his compatibility with Invincible Spirit mares, the nick having already resulted in several useful winners such as Hott Shott, Magsood and Hot Property.
Nad Alshiba Rain is an attractive and well-bred filly with a bright future ahead of her. With a bit of luck, she should be winning plenty of races this season.
