Dreams adozen

Trainer: Charlie Johnston

The Charlie Johnston-trained Dreams Adozen was a star performer for Deva Racing in 2023 and promises to go onto even better things as a four-year-old.

A French-bred daughter of Kingman and the Gr.3 Prix Penelope winner and Gr.1-placed Ferevia (Motivator), she was sourced at the Arqana August Yearling Sale by Mark Johnston in August 2021. She hinted at her potential in three outings as a two-year-old but it was only when stepping up in trip last year that we got to see the full extent of her talent.

Following a series of excellent placed efforts, she opened her account in a 1m3f Hamilton maiden last August, then doubled up in a 1m6f Bath handicap the following month. She finished second on her next two starts, before winning by an astonishing 15 lengths in heavy ground at Chester. There were at least two subsequent winners in behind for each of Dreams Adozen’s wins last year, which suggest that her form is absolutely rock solid.

That most recent win came from a rating of 79 but the style of the success indicates that Dreams Adozen is capable of being rated much higher. She closed the 2023 campaign with meritorious placed efforts at York and Newmarket and has been given a Chester Cup entry this spring. Although she might need some luck to make the final field given her current rating, it gives an indication of the sort of campaign she is going to be given this season.

With a record of 1221363 since stepped up to 14-furlongs or further, there is a lot to look forward to with Dreams Adozen in valuable staying races this year. It won’t take a great deal of improvement for big races at meetings such as Royal Ascot or Glorious Goodwood to be on her radar.
