Dream Ahead ex She Mystifies

This smashing two-year-old colt by Dream Ahead is to be trained by James Owen in Newmarket and has future winner written all over him.

His trainer has made an extraordinary impression in a short space of time, saddling more than 80 winners over jumps at a better than 20% strike-rate, including a pair of Gr.2 winners. He also enjoyed 63 winners during his first full flat season in 2023 and unearthed a genuine Gr.1 Derby contender when Wimbledon Hawkeye won the Gr.2 Royal Lodge Stakes.

Foaled in April of 2023, this colt is out of the unraced She Mystifies, who has previously produced the two-time British winners Bobby Shaft, Amnaa, and Magicdollar, plus another winner in Hungary. Her potency as a producer is easily explained by a glance at her pedigree, as she is a half-sister to the Gr.1 Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint, Gr.1 Flying Five Stakes, and Gr.1 Prix de l’Abbaye heroine Glass Slippers and the Listed-winning two-year-old Electric Feel.

Crucially, Glass Slippers is a daughter of Dream Ahead, which highlights the five-time Gr.1 winner’s compatibility with this family. 

Trained by David Simcock for Khalifa Dasmal, Dream Ahead won the Gr.1 Prix Morny and Gr.1 Middle Park Stakes as a juvenile, ending the year with the same official rating as Frankel, and went on to lift the Gr.1 July Cup, Gr.1 Sprint Cup, and Gr.1 Prix de la Foret the following year. 

He has proven to be an ultra-reliable option at lower to mid-range prices since joining the stallion ranks 13 years ago, with his other high-profile progeny including the dual Gr.1-winning sprinter Dream Of Dreams, the Gr.1 Prix Jacques le Marois winner and sire Al Wukair, and the Gr.1 British Champions Sprint winner and sire Donjuan Triumphant.

This youngster is the product of a high-quality family and appears to have been very shrewdly bought. He should be out fairly early in the season and is one to really look forward to.
