It was great to see Youracert winning at Market Rasen on Sunday. Brian Hughes gave him a great ride and I was thrilled to see him win so well. He is very exciting! Donald loves him and I can’t wait to see how far he goes as I feel he could be a star for us.
Brian Hughes said after the race “he gave me an extremely promising feel going round today, jumping well and when I asked him to quicken, he quickened up easily. I can see a big future for this lad”.
Donald said after the race “we couldn’t of asked for a better performance. I would like to aim him at some decent races as the time of the race was very good and he should easily go and win next time again. I’m thrilled!”
There is a share available in him.
Deva Racing Group syndicate are offering a share for sale in the five-year-old Multiplex gelding Youracert. Hailing from a successful National Hunt family, this exciting youngster is based with the Grand National-winning trainer Donald McCain in Cheshire.
Youracert is already the winner of a point-to-point in Ireland, and he has the pedigree to complement this obvious ability. He is out of the formerly Philip Hobbs-trained Calusa Crystal, who reached a peak rating of 130 and won six times in total, demonstrating her class when finishing fourth in a Listed Mares’ Novices’ Chase at Newbury.
She was represented by a runner under rules on Sunday by Youracert who won very easily and it’s exciting to contemplate what her offspring can achieve should they inherit her natural ability, particularly when you consider the style of Youracert’s victory in the pointing field and at Market Rasen. He earned the in-running comment ‘Disputed the lead most of the way, second before five out, two lengths second after four out, led after two out where mistake, stayed on nicely to lead, two length advantage before last, went clear flat to win cosily in the end’, and it was abundantly obvious to observers that he still looked green and inexperienced and could improve plenty for the run.
The comments of Deva Racing Manager Ryan Tongue and trainer Donald McCain add to the impression that this is a young horse of quality and potential.
Ryan Tongue: ‘He won his point-to-point in Ireland on his only second ever run beating a high-quality field by five lengths. He’s closely rated to the highly talented Mahogany Blaze, who earned £210,000 in prize money and won multiple times, including a Grade 2, for Nigel Twiston-Davies. I guarantee he will be a horse that we can have plenty of fun with who will take us all over the country.’
Donald McCain: ‘A son of Multiplex, a sire who has been very lucky for the yard. He was impressive on winning his second start in a point and all the signs at home have been very positive. He will hopefully give his owners a lot of fun and fingers crossed for some early success.’
Donald’s enthusiasm for the sire probably stems from the fact that he has trained some of his best NH progeny, notably the 137-rated chaser and seven-time winner Raise A Spark and the six-time winning hurdler/chaser Lofgren.
