The Exciting Days Keep On Coming
Southwell on Thursday promises to be an exciting day for Deva Racing horses, due to the talented Youracert and Fiesole heading to the Nottinghamshire track.
Youracert is first to carry the blue and red silks, when he lines up in the 2m Handicap Chase at 12:30. Although he won a maiden hurdle at Market Rasen last season, Donald McCain has always thought that tackling the bigger chase fences will be where his future lies, and his chasing debut at the same track earlier this month, left us in little doubt that would be the case. He jumped very well that day for a novice and with that run sure to have brought him on, along with the handicapper dropping him 3lb, we are hopeful that he can make his presence felt in what looks a competitive affair.
Fiesole then heads to post in the feature race, the class 2 Handicap Hurdle over the minimum trip of 2 miles. This looks like a highly competitive race, but Olly Murphy is confident he can build on his last run, when he was beaten less than 5 lengths in the Summer Hurdle. The handicapper has dropped him 2lb for that run and with Lewis Stones handy 7lb being taken off, he will be running of a mark of 127. This mark is only 3lb higher than when he ran away with the Sussex Champion Hurdle, therefore with a tongue tie now added we are looking forward to a bold show.
