Ripper Roo is a potentially high-class five-year-old Smadoungelding who has recently joined the Olly Murphy stable.
This stunning French-bred grey was previously based with the up-and-coming pre-training team of Charlie Poste and Francesca Nimmo, for whom he was the wide-margin winner of a Sheriff Hutton point-to-point on his only start to date in January 2020.
For all he made a hugely striking visual impression, it is the depth of the form of that race which really increases anticipation. The runner-up Commandingpresence (some 20l behind Ripper Roo at Sheriff Hutton) subsequently moved to Henry de Bromhead and won a Punchestown maiden hurdle by 15l on his rules debut before falling at the last when in contention in a Listed hurdle at Limerick.
Combine that with a favourable mention from his trainer in the Racing Post stable tour, and it is easy to see why everyone connected with Deva Racing is so excited about Ripper Roo’s prospects! He is expected to take in a bumper before going novice hurdling. The sky is the limit for this superb talent.
