A five-year-old son of the late Fame And Glory, the Olly Murphy-trained Del Duque is out of a half-sister to the stakesearning jumpers Rouble, Kopeck and Society Brief. Although sure to make a chaser in time and a cracking long-term prospect, he has wasted no time in winning races over hurdles.

He made his debut in a Huntingdon novice hurdle in February 2020, showing potential in fourth, before improving on that effort when second at Bangor in July. He would then capitalise on his lenient handicap mark by battling to a gutsy success over twoandahalf-miles in a Uttoxeter handicap in August under regular partner David England.

Subsequently nudged up five pounds in the weights, Del Duque would go on to demonstrate himself an improved performer by registering another gritty victory on his next appearance at Bangor, this time over just shy of three miles.

The hat-trick bid was derailed as he was brought down at Musselburgh in November, but there are more races to be won with this progressive type before the season is out.
