Vexed To Make The Long Journey North
by Ryan Tongue
15th September 2020

After a quiet week or so, it is great that Deva Racing have an interesting runner to look forward to. Vexed travels up to Kelso on Wednesday morning from Oliver Greenall’s Cheshire base, to line up in the Handicap Hurdle at 6:10.

An above average flat horse Vexed looked the ideal type to go hurdling this summer. However, after 3 disappointing displays, he looks to get his career back on track at the Scottish venue.

There are reasons to be hopeful though. The step up in trip from the minimum distance of 2 miles up to 2 miles 2 furlongs looks sure to bring out improvement, due to him being a strong stayer on the flat. Cheekpieces are applied for the first time, which will make him concentrate at his hurdles more and finally, his mark of 95 looks very nice indeed when you look at his flat form.

David England takes the ride and he knows the horse well, he rides out at Oliver Greenall’s regularly and he even rode Vexed in pieces of work when he was trained by David Simcock previously.
