Although Tuesday 9th March 2021 will not go down in any record books, it will live long in the memory of the many owners of Harlow, who shared their first ever victory as an owner when Ian Williams’ charge stormed to victory at Southwell.
After a slightly underwhelming display just 4 days prior at Lingfield, there were worries that Harlow may not show his true ability. Thankfully, under an astute ride from the all-weather’s leading jockey, Richard Kingscote, Harlow never looked in any danger and eventually ran out a 3-length victor.
Richard admitted that not knowing the horse at Lingfield was the reason behind Halow’s slightly disappointing display but with that experience under his belt, he would not make the same mistake twice. Settled in behind the leaders, Richard was at pains not to hit the front too early and this made all the difference to Harlow’s finishing effort.
The hopes are that with this easy victory fresh in his mind, Harlow will be full of confidence the next time he runs and there are plenty opportunities available to him on turf, all-weather and possibly over hurdles.
We are delighted that we have managed to give many owners of the Deva Value team their first winner and we are sure there will be many to follow.
