Chesterfield King heads North from Christian Williams base in South Wales to Hereford racecourse on Thursday, to contest the Conditional Jockeys Handicap Hurdle at 3.05.
Things have not gone as smoothly as expected for Chesterfield King since he travelled over the Irish Sea, to start his career with Christian. However, there have been valid excuses in all three of his runs to date, most notably the fact that he has been running over fences.
Hereford on Thursday will be the first time that he has ran over hurdles since being based in Wales and Christian is very confident that we will see a completely different animal. In Ireland he was an extremely talented hurdler, so much so that he won a novice hurdle at one of Irelands principle tracks – Fairyhouse. This, coupled with the fact that he will be racing on ground that is similar to all his best efforts, mean that he could quite easily outrun his odds and give his Deva Value owners much to shout about.
Jack Tudor will once again ride and his big race experience could be vital in this race limited to young jockeys.
