Two Runners In The Blue And Red Colours
by Ryan Tongue
16th November 2020

Deva Racing have two runners in the blue and red tomorrow, both with an outside chance. First up Goldencard travels the long distance from Christian Williams’ yard in the Vale of Glamorgan, all the way to Fakenham in Norfolk, to tackle the 2-mile Handicap Chase at 3:03. Soon after Monjeni bids to give Deva Value their first winner, when dropping down in grade to tackle Newcastle’s 2-mile Handicap at 3:40.

Goldencard has been disappointing since he was purchased by Deva Racing and hopes of a revival hang on to the fact that blinkers have been added for the first time. A dual winner over hurdles last season for Keith Dalgleish, he posted a career high mark of 127 when going down by just half a length over fences at Kelso, last December. Fast forward 11 months and he is running of a mark some 33lb lower! Needless to say, if he gets his act together and the blinkers do the trick, he is incredibly well handicapped. Christian has put the blinkers on at home and they appeared to do help.

Fingers crossed the blinkers have the same effect on the course tomorrow and hopefully Goldencard shows the level of ability that we know he has.

Monjeni has been a great fun horse since being purchased by the Deva Value team and all that is missing is from his CV is a victory. Ian Williams who has done such a great job with him, is confident that the drop down in grade and the galloping track of Newcastle could bring him the victory.

A strong stayer, as he showed when third in the Cesarewitch Trial at Newmarket a couple of runs ago, he found no luck last time out around the sharp track of Kempton. Today’s stiff track should play to his strengths and with Jim Crowley once again riding, hopes are high that he will be running a mighty race.
