As England Brace Themselves For A Second Lockdown
by Ryan Tongue
4th November 2020

As England brace themselves for a second Lockdown on Thursday, the mood of the nation is a little subdued. That is of course, disregarding the owners of Deva Racing’s ‘Glorious Zoff’. Glorious Zoff heads back over the Irish Sea from Gordon Elliott’s Cullentra House Stables, to compete in the Juvenile Hurdle at Sedgefield.

A decent maiden on the flat, Glorious Zoff seems to be a different proposition over hurdles. Admittedly, he has had just the one start over hurdles to date, when running out a 12 length victory at Sligo just two weeks ago. However,  he made such an impression that day that he is only 33/1 for the Triumph Hurdle next March.

The form of his Sligo victory seems to have real substance to it. Crassus who was second that day was also second behind another one of Gordon’s juveniles – Duffle Coat.

Duffel Coat has since gone on to win a Listed Hurdle at Weatherby, very easily.

The vibes from Gordon’s camp are that this was no flash in the pan but Glorious Zoff will have to prove that, against strong opposition. Both Oliver Greenall and Donald McCain’s representatives are first time out hurdle winners themselves, therefore the winner of this race will be considered as high class juveniles.

Kevin Brogan is very talented for a 7lb claimer and  will take the ride.
