This smashing unnamed colt is by the 2016 2,000 Guineas winner Galileo Gold and out of the well-related Vocalised mare Race In Focus. He is trained by Tom Dascombe at Manor House Stables in Cheshire.
Race In Focus was bred and raced by Jim Bolger, displaying promise in a handful of starts on the track, though she has already indicated that she can scale significantly greater heights as a broodmare.
Her only runner to date is the Dawn Approach filly Absolute Scenes, who scorched to a four-length success for Hugo Palmer on her third start in a mile maiden at Chelmsford in November. It was an extremely promising performance and bodes extremely well for the prospects of her year younger half-brother.
Race In Focus is a sibling of the Listed-winner Paene Magnus, whilst her Listed-winning second dam Smaoineamh produced seven winners and four stakes-performers, including the Listed-winning and Grp-1 placed Luminata.
Smaoineamh’s influence has continued to grow in recent seasons, with her daughters and granddaughters now collectively responsible for well over a dozen black-type performers, including the Grp-1 winner Verbal Dexterity.
This superb colt clearly has an outstanding distaff pedigree and there is plenty to relish about the likely influence of his sire.
Galileo Gold won in Grp-2 company as a two-year-old before running out a brilliant winner of the 2,000 Guineas and St James’s Palace Stakes at three. He subsequently began stallion duties at Tally-Ho Stud in 2018 and his first-crop runners will be on racecourses in 2021.
His progeny have impressed enormously in the sales ring, fetching figures including 82,000gns, 80,000gns and £80,000, with many big names signing for his stock. As a stunning physical specimen and a near-relation of the Grp-1 winning sprinter Goldream, he looks to have all the qualities required to establish himself as a leading first-season sire.
This colt ticks all the boxes and will be a two-year-old to keep a close eye on when the next turf season gets underway.
