Rowan Spirit or ‘Barney’ has a fine race record, he has won nearly 15% of his races and 1 in 3 runs have finished in the winners enclosure. A nice natured and gentle gelding he has been well cared for at Mark Brisbourne’s stables near Shrewsbury.

Mike Foster said “It will be very emotional as Barney is a special littel horse. A real favourite amongst the team at Deva Racing. His new owners were able to offer a retirement plan for the horse and he will want for nothing when he hangs up the reins. I would like to thank all his syndicate owners for their support and to Mark for his expert handling of the horse. He will leave us with plenty of find memories.”

Orlittlebylittle is entered at Towcester on Sunday. He is trying the 3m trip for the first time and this should suit him. Hurraboru disappointed a bit at Ayr last time. He was green when winning on debut and is a young horse learning his trade. He will probably have 1 more run in bumpers before going hurdling.

On the Flat the Mark Brisbourne trained Rowan Spirithas been entered at Kempton on Thursday. The race is over 7f and it will be interesting if he stays that far now he  is a 4-y-o.

Our new syndicate horse trained by Tom Dascombe is progressing nicely and is on course for an April debut. By Red Clubs he looks an early type. He has already been through the stalls and is a real-pro.

Boruler on the Bankhouse Gallop Feb 12

The St Patrick’s Day Derby is an important part of the Thursday card at the festival and raises  a lot of money for good causes.

Mike Foster, Director of Deva Racing said “The McCain family have been very generous to Deva Racing and it is great that we can give something back. Jo has been working hard to raise money for a great cause and we wanted to support her to achieve her goal. We all felt the loss of Ginger McCain last year and it was a tough time for the family but as Ginger would have wanted they have carried on the hard work of making Bankhouse a success. I am sure he is looking down on Jo and shouting riding instructions!”

Mike Foster said of the two year old unnamed colt “He is very straight forward and handled the stalls well. Ideally we will look to get him to the track in April and winning a Racing Post bonus race must be our objective this year.”

We have now identified a number of bloodstock sales that we intend to attend to purchase our new horses. As usual prospective owners are welcome to join us at the sales. This is a fantastic experience andone that previous visitors have really enjoyed. On the day you will get to go behind the scenes and see how our experts identify the right horses. You get to see the workings of a bloodstock sale and the excitement of the auction. A real experience for all racing enthusiasts.

morning and are sold in the afternoon)

22-23rd April- Doncaster- Breeze Up sale (The horses run on the track on the
22nd and are sold on the 23rd)

18th April- Cheltenham- Horses sold after racing

29-31 May- Doncaster
